Mission and Vision

Providing Sanctuary - Giving Support - Developing Skills

We aim to increase the diversity of our service provision by being reflective and adaptable to changing circumstances and to build on an existing sense of inclusiveness and belonging at the Grassmarket Mission/ Greyfriars Community Project.

Having agreed codes of conduct and a shared ethos of respect for individual needs, we aim to create a safe environment in which people can build self-esteem and be empowered towards positive change.

We are always open to partnership working and our goal is to be led by our values rather than being outcome driven. We will invest for the long term and develop volunteering opportunities and aim for increasing service user involvement.

Our vision is to see a world where:

  • People feel valued and every person is given dignity.

  • People feel cared for and can move towards independent living without feeling abandoned or isolated.

  • People can be confident to trust and value their own decisions, overcoming a poverty of expectation; ultimately realising their own potential.

  • People can build a life which reduces dependance on others gaining a self-reliance.

  • There is a commitment to be involved with individuals, meeting and welcoming them where they are.
