Getting involved.

The Grassmarket Community Project offers a variety of opportunities for individuals to participate in the work that they do. You can support them through volunteering or work placements, by purchasing art and woodwork, and through financial contributions to help us continue to fund the provision of services free of charge to those who need it most.

Volunteering in the project is as varied as the individuals who visit the centre. There are opportunities to work alongside the project participants in their herb garden and kitchen, to befriend individuals who need support in getting back on their feet, to help the team with admin and office work, to be a part of the ‘clean team’ or to help with the delivery of the arts and education program.

Current available volunteering opportunities include:

  • Newsletter facilitator
  • Kitchen volunteers
  • Keen gardeners, ideally with a knowledge of herbs, for our herb garden group
  • Grassroots Art helper
  • Experienced literacy and numeracy volunteers
  • Experienced CV/employment support volunteers

For more information on volunteering contact Gillian Cooper (Communications Manager) on 0131 225 3626 and you can visit their website which showcases the work that they do.

Friends of GCP are individuals who regularly contribute to the work in supporting people through transitions in their lives and re-connecting disengaged people who have been marginalised by lack of opportunity, skills and aspiration. In addition to your investment into the lives of some of the most marginalised individuals in Edinburgh, becoming a Friend gives you access to exclusive discounts and events throughout the year including 10% off all orders from GRoW.
